The Youth Council is made up of youth from the community to work closely with the Beacon staff and the Beacon Council on the development of youth activities. Youth Council members should be engaged in all levels of the Beacon.

The Beacon Youth Council:

• Have at least 10 members
• Meet at least one time per month
  (12 times per year)
• Have roles and responsibilities in the following areas:
  • Fundraising
  • Program Planning
  • Program Implementation
  • Policies and Procedures

Youth Council's Activities and Events includes:

One of the Council's many activities includes writing, directing, acting, and producing their very own public service announcement about anti-violence.

Trips

The Youth Council enjoys a number of trips including Great Adventure, Philadelphia Soul game, Sixers game, Temple Women’s basketball game, Jams Roller Skating Ring / Activity Center, Power 99 Radio Station, and Happy Times Fun Park.

Fundraisers

Bake sales, car washes, candle sales, 50/50 raffles, candy sales, handmade buttons sales, and handmade jewelry sales are just a few of the many fundraisers that the Youth Council participates in.

Community Service

Community service is a large part of the Youth Council. Some community service projects that have been completed are: Neighborhood Cleanups, Christmas Card Workshops for Retirement Homes, Food Drives, Diaper Drives, Playground Cleanups, Volunteer Work, Flea Markets, and much more!
